This Privacy Policy explains how InsuMeal ("we", "us", or "our") handles information when you use the InsuMeal mobile application, website, and related services.

Health information is sensitive. We use it to provide the features you request. We do not sell personal or health information, and we do not use health information for targeted advertising.

The public website meal planner does not require an account. It records an IP address, user-agent string, and request time to enforce the one-free-plan limit. The data you enter into that form is used to generate the requested plan.

3. App permissions

Depending on the features you use and your device, InsuMeal may request access to the camera or photos/files for lab-report upload, Bluetooth or nearby devices for a supported glucose device, and notifications for reminders or service messages. Permission is requested when needed and can be changed in your device settings. Some features will not work without the relevant permission.

4. How we use information

5. When information is shared

We may share only the information needed with service providers that support cloud hosting and databases, authentication (including Firebase/Google), email delivery, OCR or AI-assisted report extraction, app diagnostics, and subscription processing through Google Play. These providers process information for the services they supply to us and are subject to their own safeguards and privacy terms.

We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect users or the service, during an organizational transaction, or when you direct us to share it. We do not sell personal information.

6. Storage, security, and international processing

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information, including access controls and secure transmission where supported. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure. Service providers may process data in countries other than your own, where privacy laws may differ.

7. Data retention and deletion

We keep account and health information while your account is active and as needed to provide the service. Operational logs and website abuse-prevention records are kept only as long as reasonably necessary for security and service operation. If you request account deletion, account-linked data is scheduled for deletion within 30 days after verification. Residual copies may remain in protected backups for up to 90 additional days.

We may retain limited records longer when required for tax, accounting, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, or other legal obligations. Information that has been irreversibly de-identified may be retained because it can no longer identify you. See the Account Deletion page for the request steps and full deletion details.

8. Your choices and rights

You can review or update available profile information in the app, manage device permissions in system settings, and cancel a subscription through Google Play. Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, export, restrict, object to the use of, or delete personal information. Contact us to make a request; we may need to verify your identity.

9. Children

InsuMeal is not directed to children under 13, or below the minimum age required by local law to consent to data processing. A parent or guardian who believes a child provided personal information should contact us so we can review and delete it.

10. Medical notice

InsuMeal provides informational nutrition and tracking tools. It does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent disease and is not a substitute for a qualified healthcare professional. Seek professional advice before changing medication, insulin, diet, or treatment.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app or legal requirements change. The latest version will remain at this URL and the date above will show when it was last revised. Material changes may also be announced in the app where appropriate.
